It’s official! Shane is part of our family! There’s no denying that Shane knew this was a special day. He couldn’t look happier! He was only about a year and a half in this photo. I keep thinking there’s no way he could have known the significance. As we were in the courtroom listening to the judge, he stayed perfectly still in my arms, extremely attentive as if he was listening to and understanding every word. He had just experienced a tough transition, meeting us for the first time and leaving his home in South Korea with strangers.

He was too young to communicate, even in his native language. However, when the judge banged his gavel to finalize the adoption, Shane let out a deep breath and smiled with joy. It really shows how resilient even a small child can be in the face of adversity and the unknown. Reminds me every day to stay positive, take things as they come, and know that I’m stronger than I think. Welcome to the family Shane Watters!
