I just met a guy named Julius

I don’t know if this is a funny story or if I should be completely embarrassed. My husband and I were in the dining room of the golf club we belonged to and as I went to check out the buffet, I ran into a man who introduced himself as Julius. We spoke for several minutes while filling our plates and then I headed back to where my husband was sitting. I told him I just met a really nice guy named Julius and pointed in his direction.

At that moment, my husband dropped whatever he was holding and looked at me with a look I had never seen before...and I don't want to see ever again. He said, You mean Dr. J? I replied, I don't know, he said his name was Julius. Are you kidding me? You don't know Julius Erving? One of the greatest basketball players in history?

Clearly, I'm not the best at recognizing celebrities and sports figures especially when I don’t expect to see them. Fortunately, I survived what felt like an hour long lecture from my husband. Ricky and Dr. J became friends that evening and our families and children got to know each other as well. What I took from that experience, was how nice it was to meet someone as famous as Julius Erving, who always acts like a regular person...humble, classy and friendly. A true class act!
